Cody Rhodes Acknowledged As WWE’s Workhorse

The hard work put in by WWE Champion Cody Rhodes isn’t being overlooked by a Hall of Famer.

At the WWE Royal Rumble on February 1st in Indianapolis, Cody Rhodes will put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against his former friend turned rival Kevin Owens. It’s a match where the classic Winged Eagle WWE Championship will also be up for grabs since Owens stole it from Rhodes several weeks ago.

Ever since winning the Undisputed WWE Championship for the first time at WrestleMania 40 against Roman Reigns, Cody has been the definition of a fighting champion.

That hard work that Cody Rhodes is doing as the WWE Champion was brought up by the “Wise Man” Paul Heyman, who was at ringside for Cody’s WrestleMania 40 win.

During an appearance on the Impaulsive Podcast with Logan Paul, Heyman praised Rhodes for leading the way in WWE.

“Cody Rhodes is the champion. If there’s anybody right now — my God — he’s a commerce facilitator. He sells tickets, he sells t-shirts, he sells weight belts, he sells replica title belts that he signs. He drives commerce.

‘Cody, we need you in Detroit. We’re at 98%. We really want to sell out. We’re going to book you on three morning radio shows starting at 6 a.m. in Detroit. ‘Great, I’ll be there. If there are any others overnight, I’ll do the overnight radios too. I’ll do the afternoon drive-time radios, and I’ll get to the arena for the WWE show.’

A workhorse. My God, man. And he’s doing it on his days off too. The commitment he has to promote the product goes along with it. It’s all about finding the greatness within people and helping them understand themselves and how to bring it out. That’s what a director does, or a producer does, or whatever a wise man does.”

JBL Wants Cody Rhodes Against John Cena At WrestleMania 41

It has been reported that Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 41 opponent could be John Cena with the Undisputed WWE Title on the line. It would be a match built around Cena’s quest to be a record-setting 17-time WWE World Champion while challenging the current “workhorse” as Heyman called him.

John Bradshaw Layfield lost the WWE Title to Cena at WrestleMania 21 in 2005 in Cena’s first WWE Title win and he’s among the people who want to see the Rhodes-Cena match at WrestleMania 41.

“I’d love to see Cody. Obviously. I’d love to see against Cody for the title. I think that’s the biggest matchup in wrestling. I think it’d be fantastic. I think those two guys, they’re both very smart guys, and I think that would be absolutely incredible. But if it’s Randy, if it’s Brock, if it’s Roman, I mean, Cena is not going to have a bad match, I promise you that.

All those guys I mentioned can really work. But I’d love to see him against Cody, you know, headline WrestleMania for the title. Nobody knows what’s going to happen. Is he going to break the famous record or not? I think that’d be incredible.”

Before Cody Rhodes gets to WrestleMania, he has to survive against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble in what should be a very physical Ladder Match.
