Cody Rhodes Faces Shocking Accusations By WWE Colleague

Cody Rhodes WWE Champion

Cody Rhodes kicked off WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI on November 1 and beat Drew McIntyre to retain his WWE Undisputed Championship.

McIntyre and Rhodes had been in a rivalry for a while. During the feud, McIntyre has often publicly accused Cody Rhodes in his promos of having unfair advantages in WWE, especially during their recent match at WWE Wrestlepalooza 2025. He has claimed Rhodes benefited from backstage favoritism and management bias, which tilted the playing field in favor of Rhodes as WWE Champion.

Cody Rhodes Is Getting Backstage Favoritism in WWE

During their clash at Saturday Night’s Main Event, commentator Wade Barrett shared his thoughts on the accusations that McIntyre put on Rhodes. He said he’s close to both guys but admitted that McIntyre’s claims about Cody Rhodes are somewhat right to some extent.

“Look, and I’ll tell you right now, I’m friends with both of these guys. But there are elements of truth in what McIntyre is saying. Cody has been given advantages at times by management that Drew was never given,” Wade Barrett said.

After the victory, Triple H congratulated Rhodes on X/Twitter, which might also be a tease that The American Nightmare is soon going to turn into a heel.

“A true champion always finds a way to win. Congrats @CodyRhodes! #SNME,” Triple H tweeted.

Rhodes had always been an advocate of the code of honor and used to be very much against any form of cheating. This moral ethic even led him to lose the WWE Undisputed Championship to John Cena at WrestleMania 41 earlier this year. But in the past few months, the fans have witnessed some subtle changes in him, which hint that he might be turning into a heel.

For instance, Rhodes doesn’t hesitate to use underhanded tactics to win, and what happened at SNME this past weekend strongly corroborates it. During the closing moments of the match, McIntyre tried to use the championship belt to his advantage since even a disqualification would’ve cost Rhodes the title. However, Rhodes reversed it and countered the attack with a DDT, sending McIntyre face-first onto the championship to retain the belt.
