CM Punk shares his thoughts on WWE Unreal.

Punk’s arch-nemesis, Seth Rollins, recently revealed that he has a “difficult” relationship with the concept of WWE Unreal because he feels it kills authenticity and privacy.

The Visionary said he’s old school and doesn’t like the fact that the Netflix docuseries breaks kayfabe by revealing behind-the-scenes to the public. It’s like revealing the very industry secrets that help run the business.

But Rollins added that he appreciates the delayed airing preserves some mystery and hopes it builds respect for wrestling’s effort among new fans.

CM Punk Has Mixed Feelings On WWE’s behind-the-scenes Netflix Documentary Series, WWE Unreal.

CM Punk made a recent appearance on the Busted Open podcast, where he discussed his opinions about WWE Unreal. He also has mixed feelings about the docuseries, like Rollins.

He admitted to some annoyance with cameras capturing private moments, but also noted that there are a lot of positives after watching the first season. The reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion said:

“Yeah, a little bit. But there’s also a lot of good in it. Like I watched the first season and I liked it. There’s definitely aspects of things that I don’t want people to see, so I tell them not to film it.

I’ll walk into a room, and I’ll be like, ‘Not now.’ I also know that a lot of the times, I get done and I’m coming through Gorilla, everybody’s back there. There’s multiple cameras.

So if I really don’t want them filming something, I’m not going to go through Gorilla. You can control what they shoot and what they put on that show.”

Netflix released the first season of WWE Unreal on July 29, 2025, and the second season is on its way, with a scheduled release set for January 20, 2026.
