CM Punk Names “Unbeatable” WWE Star As John Cena’s Last Opponent
CM Punk picks John Cena’s final opponent.
John Cena is less than a month away from retiring. He’ll wrestle his last match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 in Washington, D.C. His last opponent will be decided via the “Last Time Is Now” tournament.
So far, Gunther is the fan favorite to face Cena in his retirement match. Even CM Punk, who is a John Cena fan, wants to see The Ring General retire The Last Real Champion.
Ahead of Survivor Series, CM Punk made an appearance on the Up and Adams Show, where he was asked to share who he’d like to see Cena face in his final match in WWE.
Punk picked Gunther, who has only a handful of pinfall or submission losses in one-on-one matches. He faced the former World Heavyweight Champion earlier this year at SummerSlam.
“I don’t know if it’s perfect, but it’s looking like Gunther because I’ve been in the ring with him, and I know what he can do, and I don’t know who else in the tournament can beat him right now,” Punk said.
CM Punk Feels Fortunate To See John Cena Retire
During a recent appearance on WGN News, CM Punk was asked to comment on John Cena’s farewell tour. Punk stated that he feels lucky that he’s getting to witness one of the GOATs of the industry ride off into the sunset.
13th in DC we’re gonna do Saturday Night’s Main Event, and it is going to be the John Cena farewell. End of a great tour.
You see right here on the screen is right now, me and him in the Elimination Chamber. I think this is in Toronto in February, and that’s why I’m here to tell you guys we’re bringing Elimination Chamber in February to Chicago.
A real treat to come back to WWE and to be a witness to John gracefully bowing out and retiring. I’m a small part of his story, and I’m proud to be that small part, and it’s everything to me. I’m a fan of his, just like people are fans of me.
So being around him and being there to experience him. I feel like I’m skating with Gretzky in the last couple of games. (From 3:48)
