CM Punk’s WrestleMania Dream Comes True

The WrestleMania dream has come true for CM Punk, and his good friend Paul Heyman was right there to deliver the news.

CM Punk started training to be a wrestler about 30 years ago, and ever since then, he has dreamed of becoming a WrestleMania main eventer.

During Punk’s first WWE run from 2006 to January 2014, he was a five-time WWE World Champion who main evented many major shows, including the Royal Rumble and SummerSlam, but he never got to main event a WrestleMania.

Perhaps if WrestleMania was two nights in 2013, his WrestleMania 29 match with The Undertaker would have headlined a WrestleMania. However, the two night WrestleMania concept didn’t start until 2020, and it has continued every year since then.

After a chaotic ending to WWE SmackDown in Bologna, Italy, that saw CM Punk get into a wild brawl with Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins, it was announced that the three former WWE Champions will face off at WrestleMania 41 in a triple threat match.

In the main event of WWE SmackDown in London, a contract signing took place for the Punk-Reigns-Rollins WrestleMania 41 showdown.

Roman Reigns was up first along with the “Wise Man,” WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman. The fans were singing Roman’s name repeatedly, so Reigns told the fans that the way they sing to their Tribal Chief is beautiful. Heyman even did some singing. Reigns said he was there to be acknowledged, and the other reason he was there was to sign the contract, so Reigns signed the contract.

Seth Rollins said they (Reigns and himself) had a lot of history in this building. Rollins said that 12 years ago, they landed in a helicopter and they put The Undertaker through a table.

While talking to Reigns, Rollins said that they’ve fought against eachother, fought with eachother, there’s a whole lot of love and a whole lot of hate…so the fans sang Seth’s song again. Rollins said they accomplished their mission.

A frustrated Reigns said that “we” died a long time ago. Reigns said it’s only been him because Reigns has done the work, and he made this place what it is today. Reigns said that he made this place desirable to Netflix and he was why WWE signed billion-dollar deals.

In response to that, Rollins told Reigns that Roman doesn’t understand the danger that’s right in front of him and that’s CM Punk. Rollins said that Reigns could have cut Punk’s head off at WarGames, but instead, he shook his hand. Rollins said Reigns could have let Rollins finish Punk in the cage at the Garden, but now Rollins has to clean up Roman’s mess again. Rollins signed the contract at that point.

Paul Heyman Gave CM Punk WrestleMania News That Left Punk Emotional

When CM Punk sat down in the ring, he opened the contract, looked it over, and Reigns wondered why Punk was reading through it. Reigns told Punk this is TV, so he had to hurry up and do it. Reigns told “Wise Man” Heyman to smarten him up.

Paul Heyman walked over to CM Punk and said he knows what Punk is looking for and it’s in there. Heyman said that you’re closing the show at WrestleMania. Heyman told Punk he gets to live his dream of all dreams and he told Punk that he is a WrestleMania main eventer. Heyman hugged Punk’s head and kissed Punk on the forehead. Reigns said that one man’s dream is another man’s favor. Punk had tears in his eyes.

The news infuriated Rollins, who said that Punk doesn’t deserve it. Rollins said that main eventing WrestleMania is sacred and it means more to him than anything. Rollins said that Punk doesn’t deserve it while claiming it is Roman’s and Heyman’s fault.

CM Punk said thank you to the London fans who were chanting his name. Punk thanked the fans and the WWE Universe that stood by him and chanted his name for ten long years.

The confident Reigns told Punk that he should be thanking the Tribal Chief. Reigns said that because of him, Punk is in the main event. Reigns told Punk to acknowledge the Tribal Chief and told Punk to do it right.

In response to the Tribal Chief, Punk said, “Thank you, my Tribal Chief,” as the holder of the Ula Fala, the Head of the Table…and the Big Dog. Punk thanked Reigns for allowing a kid from Chicago to be graced by your presence, and thank you Reigns, so very much.

CM Punk said that because of Reigns, he’ll see him in the main event of WrestleMania. Punk signed the contract. The fans chanted “you deserve it” for Punk. Punk said, “Thank you.”

After signing the contract, Punk told Heyman that it was not the favor that he was owed for teaming up with Reigns at Survivor Series. Punk dropped the microphone and that was the end of the show, as viewers are left to wonder what the favor actually is.

It is expected that the Punk-Rollins-Reigns match will main event WrestleMania 41 Night 1 on Saturday, April 19, and the Cody Rhodes-John Cena match will main event Night 2 of WrestleMania 41 on Sunday, April 20.

Following SmackDown, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque called it the biggest triple threat match in WrestleMania history while also confirming that it’s a main event.
