CM Punk Discusses Possibly Working With WWE NXT Brand Even More

Shawn Michaels CM Punk WWE NXT

CM Punk is busy as an active WWE superstar, but he’s also very interested in helping the NXT brand grow as well.

Ever since CM Punk has been back in WWE going back to Survivor Series last November, he has been spending a lot of time in Orlando with the NXT brand.

Due to Punk missing over six months of action after a torn triceps, there was a long rehab process, which led to him going to Orlando at the WWE Performance Center. Punk has been seen in videos training with NXT talent while also posing for photos with them as well.

The 45-year-old former WWE Champion Punk is closer to the end of his career than the beginning, so it’s only natural for him to think about the future.

At the Fanatics Fest in New York City, CM Punk was on stage with former WWE Champion Big E and Tyler Breeze. During the discussion, Big E joked that Punk was so interested in NXT that he would try to take NXT out from Shawn Michaels’ nose. Michaels, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer, is the company’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative while also running the NXT brand as the booker of the show.

In response to that, Punk said he did have an interest in learning about how NXT is run.

“Baby steps. I would love to work underneath Shawn at some point. It’s not like I want Shawn to go away, ‘Here, take over.’ I would want to learn from him and see how he operates and how he does things. NXT is sort of left alone. Triple H lets Shawn….he trusts Shawn.”

“From NXT to the main roster are wildly different. I think it’s good to know both systems, and I can learn from everybody.”

CM Punk Rematch With Drew McIntyre Likely To Be A Strap Match

In his first televised WWE singles match in over a decade, CM Punk lost to Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam due in part to the controversial referee work of Seth “Freakin” Rollins.

On the August 12th edition of WWE Raw, the rivalry continued with McIntyre trying to attack Punk with his belt, but Punk got a hold of the belt and hit McIntyre with the belt repeatedly.

It’s expected that the next Punk-McIntyre match, which could happen at WWE Bash in Berlin on August 31st, will be a Strap Match as Punk looks to pick up a big win over his biggest WWE rival.
