Why It’s Time For CM Punk To Win World Title Again
CM Punk returned to WWE at Elimination Chamber 2023 and has yet to have a proper world championship run.
He did secure the World Heavyweight Championship for a few minutes at SummerSlam 2025, but Seth Rollins cashed in the Money in the Bank contract to snatch the title away from him.
Since then, The Best in the World has been pursuing the title, and finally has the chance to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. He was supposed to battle Seth Rollins, but The Visionary vacated the title after suffering an injury, and now, Punk will face Jey Uso for the championship.
Here’s why CM Punk deserves to be the world champion again
WWE Legend Teddy Long appeared on The Wrestling Time Machine on Sportskeeda WrestleBinge. During the episode, he spoke about CM Punk having proven himself as a team player ever since returning to the Stamford-based promotion. Keeping in mind that there have been no problems, the Second City Saint deserves the gold.
Yeah, I really do. Yeah. Cause I mean, he’s been back there for a long time now. He certainly proved himself to be a team player, you know, had no problems or nothing since he’s been back. So I think it’s certainly his time. It ain’t about attitude no more. CM Punk has gotten older, and he understands it’s about the dollar, dollar, dollar.
