CM Punk Addresses What’s Next For Him In WWE

CM Punk WWE Bracelet

CM Punk is coming off a big win at WWE’s Bash in Berlin and is looking forward to what’s next.

At the WWE Bash In Berlin PLE, CM Punk faced his longtime rival Drew McIntyre in a Strap Match. It is one of the most unique matches in WWE where both wrestlers are connected by a leather strap around their wrists and the winner is the first man to touch four turnbuckles in a row to win the match.

The battle between Punk and McIntyre was a physical one that saw Punk get cut above his eyebrow although it ended not being a lot of blood. There were also weapons used throughout the match and McIntyre also slammed Punk through a table at ringside.

In the final minutes, Punk hit McIntyre with his Go To Sleep (GTS) knee to the face four times, plus an additional one earlier in the match, so Punk hit the GTS five times in the match. After the final one, Punk touched the four corners consecutively to win the match. It was noted on commentary by WWE’s Michael Cole that this was Punk’s first win on WWE television in over 10.5 years.

While Punk beat McIntyre in the Strap Match, he also retrieved the coveted bracelet that McIntyre stole from him that has the names of Punk’s wife April (AJ Lee), and dog Larry.

As for what’s next, CM Punk was interviewed after the match, which took place before the World Title match between champion Gunther and Randy Orton. Punk told WWE’s Cathy Kelley that his issue with McIntyre is over and he has his sights on the World Heavyweight Title.

“That’s definitely the end for me and Drew McIntyre. What’s next for me is I’m going to take a long hot shower, I’m going to try and find some donuts, and I got myself a main event to watch. I’m very interested in the result. Gunther vs. Randy Orton. Some people like to say ‘may the best man win.’ In this case, may the best man win because the better man is coming for you. I want the gold. I’m coming for you, sucka.”

The line at the end (“I’m coming for you, sucka”) is a nod to an old Booker T promo in WCW about Hulk Hogan, but Booker said something other than “sucka” at the end of it.

Is CM Punk’s Rivalry With Drew McIntyre Really Done?

While CM Punk may say publicly that his story with Drew McIntyre is done, it may not be. After all, McIntyre beat Punk at SummerSlam in controversial fashion and now Punk has a win, so the rivalry is 1-1 at this point.

It seems likely that McIntyre won’t agree with Punk that the feud is over, so that could lead to something happening that continues the story.

There have been previous reports about how the CM Punk-Drew McIntyre rivalry is likely going to lead to a Hell in a Cell Match at WWE Bad Blood on October 5th in Atlanta.

As always, WWE fans will have to tune into Raw to find out what’s next in the Punk-McIntyre saga.
