CM Punk Just Wants To Have Fun At WWE Live Events

The World Heavyweight Champion says he looks for laughs at house shows, and there’s no deep meaning behind what he does.

CM Punk has a charismatic personality. He can be intense and clowny and pull off both equally well. He never shies away from the occasional laugh (if he can get one) with the wrestler he’s working with.

For instance, at the final WWE house show as part of their holiday tour in December last year, Punk wrestled Bronson Reed of The Vision for the World Heavyweight Title. During the match, Punk took off his t-shirt to reveal another t-shirt underneath it.

This came after Kevin Nash’s comments on social media, calling out CM Punk for wrestling in a t-shirt on the 22nd December episode of RAW.

CM Punk Only Wants To Have Fun And Nothing Else

Punk claims that he is well known for tickling some ribs during house shows and that he’s the king of doing that. In an interview with Notsam Wrestling, Punk hit back at naysayers, saying that although people always have to put in their two cents and dissect what he does, he only does it to get laughs.

On this particular occasion, he reveals that the t-shirt idea was to try and make Bronson Reed laugh when they wrestled.

Yeah, and it’s not that deep. That was to pop the guy I was wrestling. Doesn’t go any deeper than that but, you know, somebody’s always gotta throw their two cents in and, ‘No, no, no, what he was doing was –’ no, no, no. I made dude laugh, and that’s what house shows are for. I’m like king of ribs on house shows.

Last year at The Garden, I’m running out in a towel, soaking wet with a shower cap on. Come on… I’m trying to (have fun). Some people really wanna be miserable though. I’m trying not to be, I’m really, really trying.

CM Punk was in action in the Netflix Anniversary Episode of RAW on 5th January, where he successfully defended his World Heavyweight Title against Bron Breakker.
