CM Punk To Miss Major WWE Event
CM Punk won’t be getting back in the ring just yet.
At Clash at the Castle, CM Punk was back to what he does best — costing Drew McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship. After making sure McIntyre didn’t leave WrestleMania 40 with the gold in April, Punk repeated the trick in Glasgow to the disgust of the Scottish fans watching on.
With McIntyre on the verge of victory over Damian Priest, the referee was down and out, but not to fear, someone dressed as an official raced to the ring. However, that person was revealed to be CM Punk as he stopped his count at two. An irate McIntyre shoved his rival, but Punk responded with a low blow.
As McIntyre tried to recover, Priest got back on the scene and hit a South of Heaven chokeslam to grab the win.
Although Punk appears on the verge of getting cleared to return from injury, the reality might be a little different. According to Wrestle Votes, Punk’s “official” return date is late July, and he reportedly won’t wrestle at Money In The Bank.
As of last week’s RAW roster sheet, CM Punk’s official return date was set for the end of July. I’m told he likely won’t be cleared for action by MITB on 7/6, but he should be ready for SummerSlam on 8/3.
CM Punk Heading To SmackDown
The latest report on the “official plans” contradicts comments from CM Punk after Clash at the Castle. The star said he’s planning to skip Raw to “get cleared” before appearing on SmackDown in Chicago to hopefully share the good news with fans.
Punk hasn’t wrestled since taking part in the men’s Royal Rumble match back in January.
