CM Punk Thinks WWE Stars Deserve More Money

CM Punk

CM Punk admits WWE stars are currently paid “stupid money” but still deserve more.

At WrestleMania 41, CM Punk will finally achieve his dream of being in the main event of WrestleMania. On the big night, he’ll close out day one when he meets Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns with Paul Heyman in his corner. Or at least that’s how he sees it.

Punk has been open about his desire to take a headline spot going back to his initial run with the company between 2005 and 2014. During this period, Punk and his very vocal supporters believed he was unfairly overlooked for the position more than once, most notably in 2013.

CM Punk Gives Insight Into WWE Pay Scale

During an appearance on The Ringer Wrestling Show, Punk explained that during his first WWE run, part of his drive to main event WrestleMania was linked to what he’d be paid. This was because at the time, the way WWE’s pay scale worked meant he’d be paid more.

Punk added that while that’s no longer the case, he still believes stars deserve to be better paid, considering how much money the TKO Group is making.

“So if I’m in the main event, I get paid more money. That does not exist anymore. Everybody’s on flat salary and we get paid stupid money for what we do. And yes, I do think we should all get paid more based on things I see the company doing and shouting from the rooftops [about] how much money TKO is making and all this other stuff.

But I’m 46, I don’t need money at this point in my life.”

In a recent interview, Seth Rollins said he’d love to fight CM Punk in the UFC, further playing into the real-life animosity between the pair.
