CM Punk Believes Some WWE Fans Who Complain Online Have Mental Illness
CM Punk recently went off on a group of wrestling fans.
Calling them individuals with a mental illness, Punk targeted fans who criticized WWE and other wrestling promotions because the events of a show did not go as they imagined them to.
The WWE World Heavyweight Champion made the comments during his recent appearance on the My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox podcast.
I see it in wrestling. I see it with fandoms, with things like Stranger Things and all that stuff. People just seem to want to be angry about everything because it didn’t happen the way they fantasy-booked it in their head. And to me, that’s a slight mental illness.
Like, you know— ‘Hey, I bought tickets to go to this wrestling show, and then I look on Twitter and wrestling journalist 3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 reports that there’s going to be a big surprise guest. I go to the show, there’s no big surprise guest, and I spend an unhealthy amount of time complaining about it online.
And it’s just like, well, you weren’t promised a big surprise guest. Somebody who probably knows less about what they’re talking about than you do—and is just a fan like you—made some sh*t up on the internet, passed it off as journalism, and now you’re getting mad at that. [H/T: NoDQ.com]
Fans Check Up On CM Punk After Hard Spot On WWE Raw
On the January 5 episode of WWE Raw, CM Punk headlined the main event, defending his World Championship against Bron Breakker.
While Punk dominated in the early going, he relinquished his advantage and found himself on the defensive for the majority of the bout.
Then came a spot where he performed a suicide dive on Breakker, but landed face-first outside the ring.
Regardless, he pushed through and completed the match, retaining his title after hitting his 28-year-old with a GTS.
After the match, some reports claimed that CM Punk had been placed under WWE’s concussion protocol, leading to fans worrying about his injury status. This news was, however, refuted by PWInsider, who claimed that he was fine.
