Why CM Punk Should’ve Joined Seth Rollins’ Faction Explained
CM Punk’s world crashed, in a way, at SummerSlam.
The Voice of the Voiceless became a six-time world champion at ‘the Biggest Party of the Summer’ by defeating Gunther on August 2.
Within minutes, Seth Rollins pulled the heist of the century, not only revealing that he was fully fit and not injured, but also cashed in the Money in the Bank contract on Punk to win the title.
CM Punk missed the majority of the August 4 episode of WWE RAW, but showed up in the closing minutes.
During the main event title match between Rollins and LA Knight, Punk attacked The Visionary, costing Knight the match by disqualification.
Though Punk’s advantage did not last long, as he got decimated by a Bron Breakker Spear, followed by The Stomp by Rollins.
Ex-WWE Employee Suggests CM Punk Should Have Joined Seth Rollins
CM Punk’s real-life rivalry with Seth Rollins is storied, so it does come as a surprise when someone suggests them being on the same side of a fight.
Former WWE creative writer Vince Russo did just that on the latest episode of the Legion of RAW podcast, although his explanation hinted at Punk breaking up the faction from the inside.
What I would have done is I would’ve made the stipulation if Bronson or Breakker interfere, the title changes hands. I would have had Punk interfere. I would’ve had Punk lay out LA Knight. If you can’t beat em, join em. But, Punk’s infiltrating the group from the inside. Like Bryan Danielson did with the Wyatts. Give me something interesting. [34:15 onwards]
After the show, Punk also took a dig at Roman Reigns, whom Bronson Reed took out with three Tsunamis.
