CM Punk Details Secret Mentorship Of WWE Star
CM Punk is looking to the future.
Since returning to WWEW at Survivor Series 2023, CM Punk has been working to help the next generation. This has seen him make several appearances on NXT television while offering assistance and advice behind the scenes.
During this period, Dominik Mysterio has also continued his impressive rise through the ranks. Most recently, this saw the star beat El Hijo del Vikingo to claim the AAA Mega Championship, adding it to the Intercontinental Championship he already holds.
Despite Mysterio repeatedly claiming that he doesn’t like Punk, it seems that the veteran may have played a small role in his evolution and growth.
CM Punk Is Guiding Dominik Mysterio
During an appearance on Cold As Balls, Punk was asked to deliver a fresh take on the next WWE stars to break through to the next level. After joking that he doesn’t like anyone, Punk credited Bron Breakker before revealing his friendship with Dominik Mysterio.
“I think Bron Breakker is an obvious, bona fide WrestleMania Main Event superstar…
Actually, somebody that’s on the roster that I really do like, I’m kind of his mentor, is Dominik Mysterio.
Dominik likes to tell everybody that he hates me and that we don’t like each other. But every morning, Dominik starts his day with a phone call to Uncle Phil. That’s me. And, you know, we talk. We talk about life.”
Speaking elsewhere, CM Punk named Dominik Mysterio his dream tag team partner alongside Bret Hart. Although they’re yet to wrestle a singles match on television, Mysterio served as Punk’s first opponent when he returned to the company in late 2023 at a live event at Madison Square Garden.
