CM Punk Reveals His Real Feelings About AJ Lee’s WWE Return

Both CM Punk’s and AJ Lee’s returns are two of the biggest to have happened in the past two years.

The Second City Saint returned at Elimination Chamber WarGames in 2023, while the former WWE Divas Champion returned at WWE SmackDown on September 5th, 2025.

WWE has already booked AJ Lee for her first match. She is teaming up with her husband, CM Punk, to take on WWE’s top current wrestling couple, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, in a Mixed Tag Team Match.

CM Punk is highly appreciative of AJ Lee

The fandom knew AJ Lee was about to come back to WWE when Becky Lynch helped Seth Rollins and cost Punk the World Heavyweight Championship, and slapped Punk on WWE RAW. The Voice of the Voiceless wouldn’t raise his hand on a woman, but his wife sure can!

While speaking on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Punk revealed his feelings about Lee’s return to the ring. As a husband, a fan, and a pro-wrestler, he is extremely excited to see how her story unfolds.

Um, well, I’m biased obviously. Uh, but before I was uh Mr. Mendez, before I was AJ’s husband, uh, I was a fan, you know, so it’s exciting for me as a wrestling fan to be able to experience all these things with the fans because her coming back after 10 years was a pretty big deal. Um, I think in the landscape of wrestling there, after I came back and, you know, hell froze over, there was one free agent, uh in in that kind of uh orbit that could have done the same numbers or possibly even bigger numbers than me, and it was her. So, I’m excited.

Ahead of Wrestlepalooza, AJ Lee has taken down Becky Lynch and also slapped Seth Rollins. The match between the two couples is going to be iconic!
