CM Punk upset

CM Punk is in mourning.

The former WWE Champion was part of the talent roster that traveled to Japan after the promotion’s recent tour to Australia.

As evidenced by the pictures and videos that have surfaced online from Tokyo, Punk has been having the time of his life.

Amid the joy and happiness of performing in front of some of the best wrestling fans around the world, CM Punk also received the news of his former coach, Duke Roufus, passing away.

Throughout the 2010s, Punk trained with Roufus. He would also travel from Chicago to Milwaukee to work with his coach during his UFC tenure.

The 46-year-old star took to Instagram to post a picture of himself with Roufus, along with a personal message.

Walking up in Japan trying to process the news. It’ll take a while. You made me a better person, coach.

CM Punk Honors Shinsuke Nakamura In Japan

Along with CM Punk, Shinsuke Nakamura was one of the headliners in Japan.

On October 18, Nakamura and Punk teamed up in the main event to defeat Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, with the Japanese legend securing the pinfall.

After the match, Punk spoke to the crowd in attendance, praising them for their wrestling culture and their legends.

In his speech, he also praised his tag team partner on the night, Shinsuke Nakamura, who recently made his return to the main roster on SmackDown.

I wish I could speak fluent Japanese, but I think a lot of you understand English.

It is a privilege for me to be able to wrestle in front of what I feel is the greatest wrestling audience in the world … the Japanese wrestling fans. It’s a little ironic. When I was a little boy and I fell in love with pro wrestling. All I ever wanted to do was go to Japan.

I think a lot of the Japanese wrestlers, they wanted to be American cowboys. They wanted to be Terry Funk. So to me, it’s very beautiful that I get to come to Tokyo and I get to share a ring with a legend like Shinsuke Nakamura. [H/T: Ringside News]

Everyone at TJR Wrestling sends their condolences to CM Punk at this difficult time.
