CM Punk Promises WWE Surprises
CM Punk is determined to give back to fans in Chicago.
On October 1st, NXT will premiere on the CW Network, and to celebrate the brand is going back on the road. That premiere episode will come live from All State Arena in Chicago before NXT stops off at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis seven days later.
NXT boss Shawn Michaels later said CM Punk will be playing a major role in Chicago, noting there will be other surprises to come.
For years Punk has been trying to do something special for fans in his hometown, famously buying ice cream bars for the arena when he debuted with AEW.
CM Punk Says He’s Misunderstood
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Punk claimed he’s misunderstood, before discussing his love of Chicago and hinting there are surprises on the way on October 1st.
“I realized it. It’s the reason why everybody in Chicago got free ice cream, as a thank you from me to the fans for waiting. More surprises in store if you plan on attending any shows in Chicago in the near future ‘wink wink, nudge nudge.’
I think I’m greatly misunderstood. Always love the fans. Very vocal about the bad ones though, and those are the stories people tend to harp on. I spent, I don’t know how much money buying 20,000 ice cream bars for the fans in Chicago.
It’s something I always try to do. Dating back to when I was doing Wizard World Q&As, I’d bring donuts, pizza. I always want a fun, happy environment that I want my fans to enjoy being around,”
Speaking elsewhere, CM Punk hit back at the idea he’s a locker room cancer, suggesting he treats people how they treat him.
The star left WWE in 2014 in highly acrimonious circumstances before being involved in two major backstage incidents in AEW — the second of which resulted in him being fired.
