CM Punk Recalls What He Paid For Ice Cream Bars At AEW Debut

CM Punk spent a lot of money to make wrestling fans happy when he made his highly anticipated return in AEW.

At WWE Bad Blood in Atlanta, CM Punk and his hated rival Drew McIntyre had an epic encounter that is being praised as one of the best matches of the year.

The match between the two former WWE Champions, Punk and McIntyre had a bloody battle that featured both men using multiple weapons including a toolbox, chairs, the steel steps and Punk putting a steel chair around his knee before hitting a Go To Sleep on McIntyre to win the match.

It was August 20, 2021 when CM Punk made his debut on AEW Rampage in Chicago. It was Punk’s return to pro wrestling after over seven years away. On that same night, CM Punk also bought ice cream bars for the fans in attendance since Chicago is his hometown and he wanted to thank the fans for chanting his name so much when he was gone.

During a recent appearance on No-Contest Wrestling, Punk revealed that all of those ice cream bars cost him tens of thousands of dollars.

“What helped all of that is, any time they’re in Chicago (there are rumors). That is precisely why I spent $40,000 on ice cream bars when I came back in 2021. That was a legit thank you. Thank you for seven years of chanting my name.”

“I do have a little bit of sympathy and empathy for the people in the ring when that was going on, and I do think a lot of the sourness and hard feelings some people have for me is because of that. They’re busting their ass and [the crowd] is chanting for me.”

“That’s one of those where, I wouldn’t be anywhere, and I wouldn’t be back here, if it wasn’t for great many circumstances. One of them is the fans, especially in Chicago, but worldwide.”

CM Punk Bought Pizza For WWE NXT Fans

In the main event of the first WWE NXT episode on the CW, Trick Williams beat Ethan Page to become a two-time NXT Champion in a match that saw CM Punk as the referee for the match, which took place in Chicago.

After the match, Page shoved Punk and complained about his refereeing. Punk nailed Page with a Go 2 Sleep and he told the Chicago crowd to get some free pizza on their way out courtesy of himself and the new champion.

It’s not known officially if Punk paid for the pizza himself because he said “on us” while pointing to himself and Williams. It could have been WWE who paid for it as well. Perhaps one day Punk reveal how much that pizza cost him.
