CM Punk Names AEW Talent He Wants To Wrestle

CM Punk already has a list of dream matches following his return to wrestling, naming several AEW stars as his dream opponents!

Kicking off AEW Rampage: The First Dance, CM Punk made his return to professional wrestling for the first time in over seven years. This marked his first appearance on a televised wrestling show since the January 20th 2014 edition of RAW. Later that week, he quit WWE after competing in that year’s Royal Rumble match and has not wrestled since.

Speaking during the Rampage post-show media scrum, Punk was asked for his thoughts on being able to create new enjoyable moments with a fresh slate in a new company. The new AEW star discussed how excited he was at the prospect of facing several of AEW’s roster, naming the likes of Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, The Young Bucks and Jungle Boy.

“Yes [I’m excited], 100 percent. I get excited about the prospect of me working with [Brian Pillman Jr.], [Powerhouse] Hobbs, Ricky Starks, Jungle Boy, Darby Allin, Jon Moxley. I’ve never worked with a Jon Moxley before. Literally, just everybody. I’ve never done anything with the Young Bucks, I’ve never been in the ring with Kenny Omega.”

“I think there are so many ‘dream matches,’ I think is what people call them, but just dream situations, you know? And who knows who else is coming. I don’t know. You [Tony] probably know, you’re the boss and all that, but there’s different combinations that I think people can get excited about and it just feels live and I’m jazzed to be here.”

Punk went on to explain why he returned to wrestling and specifically chose AEW, detailing that he’s here for both the fans and himself as well as the “limitless possibilities” the company affords him.

“I’m excited to be here and I said it in the promo, I’m here for the fans. I’m here for me, I’m not a liar, I’m not going to lie, but if you tell me this is going to be fun again and I can go out there and have the time of my life? That’s the juice for me. I think it’s limitless possibilities, I really do believe that. It feels like an environment where anything can happen, it’s live TV, let’s have fun.”

Elsewhere on the media scrum, the Chicago-native revealed some of the details of his AEW contract alongside Tony Khan and compared his return to his iconic WWE Championship win at Money In The Bank 2011.

During his Rampage appearance, CM Punk laid down a challenge to Darby Allin for a match at All Out though the bout has yet to be made official.
