CM Punk Sends Messages To New WWE Signings
CM Punk had some welcoming messages for the newest WWE signings.
As one of the most experienced wrestlers in WWE, CM Punk has become a locker room leader since returning to the company one year ago.
In addition to his work as a wrestler in WWE, Punk has been known to spend time with the NXT roster as a mentor to a lot of those wrestlers who grew up as fans of his. The two-time WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels has also said CM Punk could be somebody that succeeds Michaels in running the NXT brand in the future.
A new WWE program was announced recently called WWE ID, which is the company’s way of signing independent pro wrestlers to deals while they are still a part of the indy wrestling world. It’s similar to the WWE NIL (Next In Line) program that has led to several current stars in NXT having a lot of success after they were signed as collegiate athletes.
The first three wrestlers signed to WWE ID deals were announced this week: Zayda Steel, Bryce Donovan, and Cappuccino Jones.
CM Punk reacted to the signings on his Instagram stories. Punk wrote “welcome to the program for Steel” along with a “has been ID’d” for Donovan. Regarding the uniquely named Cappucino Jones, Punk wrote: “Freshly brewed, freshly ID’d.”
CM Punk Absent From WWE Following Brutal Hell In A Cell Match
At the WWE Bad Blood PLE in Atlanta, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre had one of the most gruesome matches of the year inside the Hell in a Cell structure. Each man went into the match with one win during their eight month rivalry, so the Hell in a Cell match was booked to finally settle their issues.
The Punk-McIntyre match was a bloody battle that saw both men bleed and in the end it was CM Punk who picked up the victory thanks to the Go To Sleep.
On the Raw that followed, Punk told the fans he would be going on a break. That was over a month ago and now that the Crown Jewel PLE is in the rearview mirror, a return to television for Punk and McIntyre appears to be likely soon.
Next up on the WWE PLE calendar is Survivor Series on November 30th. That event will mark one year since Punk returned to the company.
