CM Punk Looking To The Future One Year On From WWE Return
CM Punk is just getting started.
On November 25th, 2023, hell froze over and CM Punk made a stunning return to WWE at Survivor Series.
When Punk walked out just as the show went off the air it was his first appearance for the company since walking out in early 2014. Following that acrimonious exit, many believed Punk would never wrestle again, never mind return to WWE.
However, Punk did eventually come back, joining AEW in 2021, but he was fired just two years later after a controversy-hit spell. After a couple of months on the sidelines, Punk and WWE hastily came to terms on a deal that was signed in the minutes before he went live on television.
CM Punk Reflects On Comeback
To celebrate the first anniversary of CM Punk’s return, WWE released a backstage video with previously unseen footage of the chaos. In the video, Punk can be seen interesting with several WWE stars and cracking jokes with the likes of Randy Orton and Triple H.
Reflecting on his comeback on Instagram, Punk paid tribute to fans, and everyone who made it happen. In typical Punk style, the message was posted over a still of Seth Rollins flipping him off at Survivor Series.
“Happy one year anniversary of my return to WWE. Thank you to all the fans for waiting, chanting my name for years, and carrying me on this journey. Thank you to my family and friends backstage for the warmth and continued support. Thank you Paul, Nick, and Bruce for the trust and making it all happen. Love you all! We are just getting started!”
Fast forward almost a year to the day of that famous comeback, and CM Punk returned to SmackDown on November 22nd alongside Paul Heyman.
Punk will now team with Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, and The Usos at Survivor Series WarGames against Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Bronson Reed.
