CM Punk Issued Challenge By Former WWE Champion
The new WWE World Champion, CM Punk, has been issued a challenge by a wrestler on the Raw brand.
CM Punk became the WWE World Heavyweight Champion for the seventh time when he defeated Jey Uso at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Salt Lake City. The title was vacated by an injured Seth Rollins a few weeks ago.
While there are many big names on Raw likely coming for Punk, such as Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, LA Knight, Jey Uso, Rusev, Penta, Sheamus, and others, a legendary tag team wrestler wants a shot, too.
The New Day’s Xavier Woods, who is a former King of the Ring winner in addition to being a Tag Team Champion, posted a video on social media. In the video, Woods mocked Jey Uso’s “Yeet” hand gesture while running the stairs and showing that he wasn’t tired. After impressively running the stairs, Woods spoke into the camera:
“Hey yo, Punk. When you are ready to go up against somebody that doesn’t have baby lungs, you know where to find me.”
Woods was clearly mocking Jey Uso for looking tired sometimes after his stair-walking “Yeeting” entrance, and Woods was showing Punk that he doesn’t get tired.
CM Punk Is Happy In WWE
While wrestlers like Xavier Woods call him out, WWE World Champion CM Punk made it clear after winning the World Title that he’s in a good place and it feels like he’s living a dream.
“It’s just every day’s been a dream, honestly. Every day’s gratitude. Obviously, I love hockey so much I kind of draw the parallels between my wrestling career and hockey and I’m the old guy in the room now.“
“I’m just happy I get to lace up my skates and have the privilege to be able to walk the locker room and the halls with a lot of talented young stars and seeing all the fans, all the places I’ve been all around the world multiple times, getting to revisit stuff and see the young and the old all love wrestling. It’s great. It’s been a dream.”
Meanwhile, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, has claimed there’s a new landscape in WWE with CM Punk as the World Heavyweight Champion.
