CM Punk Suggests Unique Idea For John Cena’s Final WWE Run

CM Punk

CM Punk believes fans would be interested in seeing him team with John Cena.

16 time-world champion Cena made a surprise appearance at Money In The Bank on 6th July, shocking the sold-out crowd in Toronto by announcing that he would bring down the curtain on his storied in-ring career at the end of 2025.

Cena has been open about his intention to face the biggest and best before he laces up his boots for the final time, with many hoping that he would square off once again with former rival CM Punk.

The pair were previously embroiled in a heated 2011 feud that ultimately saw Punk defeat Cena in front of a hostile home town crowd in Chicago at Money In The Bank to lift the WWE Championship.

Speaking recently during the Mattel WWE Panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Punk offered an alternative plan that would see him team with Cena during his final few months as an active competitor:

“If I had to tag up with somebody to beat some people up, it would probably be Larry. Everybody’s asking me because (John) Cena has announced his retirement that, you know, obviously they wanna see us fight each other.

I think there’s something to me and him tagging. I think that can be pretty interesting.”

CM Punk Addresses Potential WWE Return For AJ Lee

Whilst Cena is set to depart the WWE locker room, one former WWE Superstar who could be set to return is AJ Lee.

The former WWE Divas Champion, who is married to CM Punk, has not competed in a WWE ring since 2015 but has been linked with a return to the company.

CM Punk recently addressed those rumours, refusing to rule out a return whilst highlighting that it was a decision for AJ Lee alone to make.
