CM Punk Heel Turn Seemingly Teased Ahead Of WWE Night Of Champions

CM Punk WWE

CM Punk will challenge John Cena at WWE Night of Champions.

The Second City Saint has been a babyface since his return to the Stamford-based company in 2023. Meanwhile, The Franchise Player has turned heel following his comeback earlier this year for his retirement tour.

The two will now clash for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the Saudi capital. While addressing their highly anticipated square-off on the Countdown to Night of Champions, WWE color commentator Wade Barrett teased a Punk heel turn.

When asked who he believes would walk out with the title tonight, the former Intercontinental Champion picked Punk, claiming the latter knows every dirty trick in the book despite how he has been presenting himself lately.

I think it’s gonna be CM Punk. I think John Cena has probably met his match tonight. I think CM Punk knows every dirty trick in the book, regardless of how mature and benevolent CM Punk may present these days. Deep down at heart, the guy’s a winner. And whatever it takes tonight, John Cena meets his match.

John Cena Never Defeated CM Punk In a Title Match

On the Countdown to Night of Champions, WWE announcer Jackie Redmond also gave her take on the upcoming Undisputed WWE Championship match between John Cena and CM Punk.

She pointed out a major fact that favors The Second City Saint ahead of the historic clash: Cena had never defeated him in a title match.

It would be interesting to see if The Franchise Player would break that record tonight at WWE Night of Champions.
