CM Punk Teases Going After Specific Championship In WWE
CM Punk thinks that a WWE championship he held in the past could be something he wants to win again.
It was an emotional WrestleMania 41 experience for CM Punk, who admitted that he cried all day before the outstanding match he had in the main event on Saturday night.
Due to the actions of his “best friend” Paul Heyman, CM Punk lost in the main event of WrestleMania 41 Saturday. It was Heyman who would go on to low blow Punk in the match against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. After Reigns beat up Punk with a steel chair, Heyman hit a low blow on Reigns as well. That led to Rollins beating Reigns to win the match and a new Rollins-Heyman alliance was formed.
Following the second night of WrestleMania 41, CM Punk spoke to ESPN’s Daniel Cormier about what might be next for him. They spoke about Dominik Mysterio becoming the Intercontinental Champion for the first time in his career.
“It’s the ironic reaction is what that is because he’s a little snake. He’s a little piece of garbage. You know it too. (DC says he was cheering for Dominik) Of course you were because you’re like, ‘oh, I want to be funny and contrarian and I want to cheer for the guy that has no redeeming qualities whatsoever’. But now he’s the Intercontinental Champion. Well, my hat’s off to him.
I don’t know what’s going on with me next. Maybe I’ll go after Dominik Mysterio. Man, every time I see him, I still see that little 8, 10-year-old little brat. You know what I mean? I wanted to punch him in the face when he was 10. Now I get to legally.”
Punk was referring about interacting with Dominik as a brat was a reference to Punk’s late 2000’s feud with Dominik’s “deadbeat” father, the WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.
WWE Wants CM Punk To Sign A Long-Term Deal
CM Punk is closer to the end of his career than he is to the beginning at the age of 46 years old and he recently spoke about his future as a wrestler.
“I definitely know I can’t go forever. Like the idea is to — and I’ve talked to Randy [Orton] about this because, you know, me and him, I think, f*ck, is Randy younger than me? If he is, but not by much. And mileage-wise, I mean, we’re dead even, it’s a dead heat there.
I talked to him and he’s just like, ‘Man, I’m doing this for as long as I can.’ And I love [that] because he’s so enthusiastic about it. It’s not just a, ‘F*ck you. I know I’m fat and I’m out of shape and I can’t do this anymore, but I’m still going to do it.’ You know what I mean? He’s never looked better. He’s never been better. I think Randy’s gotten taller.
“And I look at him and I’m like, ‘Oh, okay.’ Because you do….there’s obviously a stigma to quote-unquote ‘being an old guy.’ You don’t want to continue past your point of exploration. But yeah, some days, some days I get done doing what I’m doing and I’m like, ‘I feel like I’m just getting started.’ Like, this run I’ve been on, it really kind of washed over me where it made me, I can’t remember the specific moment where I turned to somebody, one of the Pauls, Heyman or Triple H, and I said, ’46 years old, I think I’m starting to understand the business.’
And that’s the business. Your body’s going to give up on you way before your mind does. You know, so to me, my mind’s never been sharper. I’ve never been more focused. And there is life in wrestling beyond taking bumps and being in the ring. So we’ll see what happens. But I don’t plan on — they’re trying to get me to sign a five-year deal. So I look at that and I go, ‘Guys, I don’t know.’
The Raw after WrestleMania takes place in Las Vegas on April 21 with CM Punk looking for some revenge on his best friend Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins.
