CM Punk Fires Back At Retirement Talk

CM Punk

CM Punk isn’t ready to walk away.

Despite a career spanning almost 30 years and being closer to 50 than 40, CM Punk remains at the top of his game.

Since returning to the industry in 2021 with AEW, Punk has wrestled in several acclaimed matches, and he remains determined to continue that run now that he’s back with WWE. But while he’s keenly aware that he might not physically be the same as he was ten or 15 years ago, that doesn’t mean retirement is on his mind.

In a video for GQ where he answered questions from fans, Punk gave short shrift to the idea that he’ll be hanging up his boots any time soon.

“I’ll f*cking retire whenever I want to. There’s work to be done. And you’re gonna miss me when I’m gone. So shut the f*ck up.”

Interestingly, Cody Rhodes believes he’s in a “fight” with Seth Rollins and CM Punk to replace Triple H when the WWE boss eventually steps down. Since returning to the company, Punk has already taken an increased interest in mentoring young talent.

CM Punk Delighted To Have AJ Lee Back

Speaking elsewhere, CM Punk said he’s excited to see AJ Lee back with WWE ahead of their match at Wrestlepalooza. Punk explained that before he was “AJ’s Husband” he was a wrestling fan, and as a fan, it’s incredible to see Lee return to the industry.

When Lee teams with Punk to take on Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, it will be her first match in just over a decade. The three-time Divas Champion initially retired in April 2015 as a result of a neck injury.

At the same event, Brock Lesnar will make a much more controversial comeback when he takes on John Cena in what’s been billed as the final meeting between the pair.
