CM Punk Drops Roman Reigns Tease
CM Punk had an intriguing response when asked about Roman Reigns.
On November 12th, 2012, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose made their explosive WWE main roster debut. The group known as The Shield, made a surprise appearance in the Survivor Series main event to help CM Punk retain the World Championship by attacking Ryback, leaving Punk to pin John Cena and emerge victorious from a physical Triple Threat Match.
The group initially helped Punk and his manager Paul Heyman, although they later began working on behalf of Triple H.
The Shield eventually split in explosive fashion in 2014, before going on to dominate the industry across two companies for the next decade. As for Punk, by the time the group went their separate ways, he had already left WWE, walking out following that year’s Royal Rumble.
CM Punk Predicts Roman Reigns Storyline
During an appearance with Peter Rosenberg on Cheap Heat, Punk was asked whether he’s had the chance to speak to Reigns since returning to the company at Survivor Series 2023.
“We’re on different shows and I feel like with my injury and his time off and everything, I saw him at WrestleMania, it’s the last time I saw him,”
When questioned about the dynamic between the pair compared to 2014, Punk hinted that the story will eventually play out on television.
“If you look back at when The Shield, they came here and made a whole ton of waves in a short amount of time. And my relationship with all those guys was pretty good. I just had to get the hell out of here for my own sanity.
But yeah, absence makes the heart grow fonder. I think a lot of the questions you have like, oh, what is Punk’s relationship with Roman? What does Punk feel about Seth? I think all that stuff is gonna play out on television because that’s what I do.”
During the same appearance, CM Punk gave a scathing assessment of his time in AEW, commenting that he “wasted” matches on some people. He went on to suggest that some people in the company don’t understand the wrestling industry.
Punk has been absent from WWE television since the Raw after Bad Blood in October. The former World Champion had defeated Drew McIntyre in a blood-soaked Hell in a Cell match at the event.
