CM Punk Reveals Difference Between First & Current WWE World Title Reigns
CM Punk is finally a world champion after returning to WWE in 2023 at Elimination Chamber.
He has proven himself to be a team player and has become much different backstage than he used to be.
The Best in the World has worked with some of the greats of the current era since his return, and finally won the World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
CM Punk has a different approach towards WWE World Title reigns now
The Second City Saint won his first world championship in WWE in 2008. During that time, CM Punk was 29 years old and had a different approach towards it. He wanted to hold on to the championship and would keep planning his next move. Now, decades later, he is living in the moment and isn’t working overtime to prove himself.
He detailed the difference during his appearance on Mostly Sports With Mark Titus and Brandon Walker.
You know, I definitely think when I won the belt the first time, it was just like I need to hold on to this thing, and I need to prove to everybody why I’m the champion. And it’s like almost this unhealthy obsession with it. Um, and not living in the moment, always thinking ahead like what’s coming next? How can I further, you know, raise my stock and prove to people that I belong here?
And there’s absolutely none of that now. Now I’m pretty secure, and you know, like you, you know who I am. I have the empirical data to prove that I am exactly everything I’ve ever said I was to back it up. Uh so this time I’m just kind of in the moment. I’m just loving it. Just staying present.
