CM Punk Cried All Day Before WrestleMania

CM Punk frown

CM Punk has opened up about just how much WrestleMania 41 meant to him.

On April 19, 2025, CM Punk finally achieved his dream and walked out in the main event of WrestleMania. However, his night was destined to end in heartbreak.

While Punk walked into battle against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins with Paul Heyman by his side, when all was said and done, Heyman had turned his back on his long-time friend. To add to the turmoil, he also delivered a thunderous low blow to his Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.

This paved the way for Rollins to take the victory before leaving with his new manager, Paul Heyman.

WrestleMania Was Emotional For CM Punk

After night two of the spectacular wrapped up, Punk sat down with Daniel Cormier for ESPN to asses the event and his heartbreak 24 hours earlier. The star revealed that he kept crying in the hours before his match and struggled to keep things on track after seeing the video package chronicling his career.

“Dude, I was. I was a crying baby, literally the whole day. I had to run out of gorilla when they started playing the video package and I saw 26-year-old me.”

“The years I put into this, my time away fighting in the UFC, doing all these other things and then coming back and feeling, ‘I’m home.’ And now I’m ready for the crown. I’m ready for that responsibility to main event my first WrestleMania. And when I say that, I say it’s my first because it’s the first one. It’s not the last.”

While reflecting on being betrayed by Heyman yet again, he admitted he wasn’t surprised. Punk added that he was proud to main event WrestleMania and share that moment with someone who never gave up on him and helped him get there.

“Paul Heyman, I knew who he was, just like he knows who I am. We’ve been friends for a very, very long time. He’s done this to me before—threw a ladder into my head, and I got 13 staples in my head because of it. So, he knows what’s coming.”

“Main eventing WrestleMania was important to me and I needed to share it with somebody who got me there, somebody who never gave up on me. But now he’s turned on me.”

Speaking elsewhere, CM Punk stated that he asked to take part in all of WWE’s live tours because he feels he has a special connection with fans. While he could maybe be forgiven for carefully managing his schedule given his veteran status, Punk was determined not to miss a date on the company’s pre-WrestleMania European tour.
