Signs Show CM Punk Could Be ‘Done’ With AEW
CM Punk could be done with All Elite Wrestling.
Following this past Sunday’s AEW All Out pay-per-view, newly crowned AEW World Champion, CM Punk addressed the media following his title win. During the post-show media scrum, Punk wasted no time in peppering his co-workers with Muhammad Ali-esque jabs. Punk began his rant by directing his attention toward his former friend and Ring Of Honor colleague, Colt Cabana. Punk would then take aim at the company’s EVP’s, Kenny Omega, and Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks. Punk would also call out former AEW World Champion, ‘Hangman’, Adam Page, who according to Punk, started the spat, during a promo leading up to their title match at Double Or Nothing, this past May.
Following the scrum, Punk, Omega, The Bucks, and Punk’s close friend and AEW Producer, Ace Steel would engage in a physical altercation, seemingly ignited by Punk’s remarks, earlier in the evening.
In a recent update, it was reported that Punk, Omega, The Bucks, Page, and Steel along with Christopher Daniels, Michael Nakazawa, Brandon Cutler, and Pat Buck would all be suspended due to their participation in the brawl. During the 9/7 episode of AEW Dynamite, company President, Tony Khan announced that Punk would be stripped of the AEW World Title and The Elite would have their AEW World Trios Titles also vacated.
The latest on the outcome of the reported altercation could see kore than just a suspension for Punk, per PWTorch’s Wade Keller, who provided a bit of an update on the potential stats of the now-former AEW World Champion:
“I’m almost willing to say [Punk is] probably done with the company. But I’m not super confident on that, because I just think there’s so many moving parts on this story. But that’s certainly where their leaning is right now, as opposed to he’s totally forgiven and the others are gone. I think it’s more likely Punk is gone for a variety of reasons. And I don’t know if that includes insubordination in that Q & A or if it has to do with other aspects or if it has to do with Punk just wanting out now.”
While a tournament was announced to determine a new AEW World Champion, new Trios Champions were crowned on last night’s show and that outcome can be found by clicking here.
