CM Punk Claims He Is “On The Fence” About AEW’s Win/Loss Records

All Elite Wrestling newcomer CM Punk has made it clear that he’s not sure about AEW’s use of win/loss record to determine challengers for championship titles.

After making his AEW debut on the August 20 edition of Rampage after seven years away from professional wrestling, Punk has spoken passionately about how much he has missed being in the business. Punk is known for his bluntness and honesty especially during interviews talking about pro wrestling.

Punk appeared on the Oral Sessions podcast with Renee Paquette, who asked Punk who he wants to work with in AEW. Punk admitted his answer was lame, but he really wants to work with everybody. Punk also knows that he can’t come into AEW and go straight to the top (to challenge for a major title).

“It’s a lame answer, but it’s everybody. Yeah, it really is, you know, but I think the way AEW is structured is, you know, like, CM Punk couldn’t come in and immediately start wrestling, Kenny Omega, right. They have wins and loss records.”

What Punk meant was that he can’t just walk into AEW and challenge the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega right away.

Punk shared his feeling on the win/loss records. Punk admitted he was “on the fence” about it because it’s tough to maintain in pro wrestling.

“I mean, I’m on the fence about it, like I get it, but it’s hard to maintain. Yeah, it’s hard to maintain simply because they have the YouTube shows, which I think the majority of the people’s records, you know, their matches and stuff. And it kind of reminds me of like Goldberg and WCW Nitro. He’d be like, 10 and 0, and then like the next Nitro he’d be like, 25 and 0, and I’d be like, ‘Wait a second. This guy wrestled twice a day for a week like what is going on?’”

CM Punk will compete in his first pro wrestling match since WWE’s 2014 Royal Rumble later tonight at AEW All Out in Chicago.
