CM Punk Finally Answers The Most Asked Question Since WWE SummerSlam

CM Punk entrance

CM Punk had to stand his ground.

At SummerSlam, CM Punk suffered one of the most crushing defeats of his entire career. Just minutes after beating Gunther to become a WWE World Champion for the first time in 12 years, Punk was defeated by Seth Rollins, who cashed in his Money In The Bank contract.

To make matters worse, Rollins had spent several weeks claiming he was dealing with a serious knee injury, luring both Punk and Gunther into a false sense of security.

But one question has dominated the discourse around Rollins’ victory over Punk at SummerSlam: why didn’t the former AEW star simply run away?

During an appearance on First Take, Punk said the answer was obvious: he doesn’t run from a fight.

“Why didn’t I just run away is the question a lot of people are asking me, and the simple answer is, I don’t run away. I also don’t think I could at that point, I was too exhausted.”

CM Punk Didn’t Enjoy Famous Match

During the same interview, CM Punk looked back on his initial match with Gunther and admitted that it’s not something he’s particularly in a rush to do again. The veteran said that although he beat the Austrian star, the match was more about simply surviving.

He also took the chance to fire a shot at Seth Rollins for lying to everyone, including his young daughter, about being injured.

Off the back of his devastating loss at SummerSlam, at SummerSlam, CM Punk has a chance to get revenge at Clash In Paris on August 31. At the event, Punk will challenge Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship as part of a Fatal-Four-Way Match alongside Jey Uso and LA Knight.
