CM Punk at the WWE Raw on Netflix press conference

AJ Lee retired from wrestling primarily due to severe neck issues. It took her a long time to heal.

On the September 15 edition of Monday Night RAW, CM Punk and AJ Lee confronted their Wrestlepalooza opponents, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, in the middle of the ring in a heated segment. The Visionary and The Man tricked the babyfaces, and the fans saw Lynch take out Lee with a ManHandle Slam while Rollins distracted Punk.

CM Punk Is Worried About AJ Lee

Speaking on ESPN’s SportsCenter, CM Punk made a heartbreaking confession that watching his wife get hurt on Monday upset him very much. He was genuinely scared because he knew the risk of serious injury. Punk admitted that he’s concerned for his wife because of her past injuries, but he’s also confident that his wife is resilient and strong.

One of the things I always tell people what we do is, you know, like I deal with emotion. I try to get the audience to feel what I’m feeling, to experience what I’m experiencing. And sometimes it’s hard. I think in this instance, it’s easier because everybody has not necessarily a spouse or a husband or a wife, but they have somebody that they love and that they care about.

They’ve been in situations where there’s maybe a puzzle in front of them that they can’t solve or, you know, perhaps somebody in front of them that they would love to, you know, punch in the teeth, but they can’t. Uh, so they understand these characters and, you know, the roles and the situation. So, it makes the emotion a little bit more heightened, you know. I know I’ll be on heightened emotions and like a raw nerve watching her, like Monday, you know, she got dumped on her neck. I was scared. I know that’s a possibility that something can happen, but she’s a superhero. I’d rather have nobody else in my corner. (From 2:52 to 3:57)
