CM Punk Admits WWE Injury Was Crushing
CM Punk has explained what his SummerSlam match means to him after he faced the crushing reality of injury on his return to WWE.
CM Punk has recently been cleared to return to the ring and after months of bad blood building, he will face Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce finally made the match but given the chaos the pair have caused, he inserted Seth Rollins to be the special guest referee to try and maintain some control.
On Raw in St. Paul, CM Punk warned Seth Rollins that he didn’t want his help before McIntyre told Punk that he needed to worry about him and not Rollins. Despite the exceptionally personal nature of their feud, CM Punk told McIntyre that he was the third wheel in the match as he continued to stare down Rollins.
CM Punk Fights Back From Injury
In his first televised WWE match in ten years, CM Punk was injured in the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble taking him out of a match at WrestleMania. Appearing on ESPN’s First Take, CM Punk admitted he was crushed by that injury but that he’s excited to finally get back in the ring:
I’m extremely pumped. It’s been a long road to get back to WWE. We obviously have had our problems, I’ll say. And then to come back and then get injured in January was pretty crushing. But it gave me a lot to do with the rehab and being able to refocus and really kind of seize the opportunity that I’ve been given.
In one of the biggest understatements of all time, CM Punk also admitted that he’s “very polarizing” with controversy never too far from the former WWE & AEW Champion.
