CM Punk Admits He Defied Major WWE Order
CM Punk has been called many things during his wrestling career, but ‘Yes Man’ is not one of them.
During his stints across various promotions, he has maintained his rebellious persona while delivering special performances inside the ring.
It was the same attitude that made waves during his first stint in WWE and, a few years later, in AEW.
In 2011, he defied a major order that saw him land in the bad books of some of the Stamford promotion’s higher-ups.
While appearing on WWE Break It Down, he narrated an incident following the death of Randy “Macho Man” Savage.
CM Punk recalled wanting to pay tribute to the legendary performer by wearing the latter’s colors that he wore during his WrestleMania III match against Ricky Steamboat, but faced opposition.
Unfortunately, just before this picture, the legendary Randy, Macho Man, Savage passed away. So I wanted to pay homage to a classic pair of gear, twofold really. Like, pink looks great on me, and this is an homage to the gear he wore at WrestleMania III taking on Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat.
CM Punk Defied WWE Orders
CM Punk then said someone saw his gear and warned him against wearing it. While he agreed to their face, he wore it on television anyway.
Now I commissioned my gear maker at this time to make this gear, and I won’t name names, but somebody very high in the office walked past and saw it and found me and said, ‘Do not wear that gear on television.’ And I said, ‘You got it,’ and I wore the gear on television.`
Punk recently competed in the men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series, but his team suffered a defeat. The 47-year-old star seemingly suffered an injury, following which he missed the subsequent taping of WWE RAW.
