There is a double title match coming on an upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite featuring Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston.

If you watch AEW or ROH programming with any regularity then you know that any time Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston are in a match then the announcers will start talking about how they have been rivals for over a decade. They are talking about the days before Claudio was in WWE as Cesaro and they were both in ROH together.

Over the last couple of years, Claudio and Eddie have had several matches together including an ROH World Title match at Supercard of Honor this past March. Claudio won that match and has remained the ROH World Champion for over 270 days dating back to December 2022 when he beat Chris Jericho for the championship.

They have also been part of many tag team matches including the two most recent AEW pay-per-view events. At AEW All In on August 27th, Kingston’s team beat Castagnoli’s team in a chaotic and bloody Stadium Stampede Match that saw two teams of five men fight all over Wembley Stadium.

At AEW All Out on September 3rd, Claudio Castagnoli and his Blackpool Combat Club teammate Wheeler Yuta beat Eddie Kingston & Katsuyori Shibata in a tag team match with Claudio pinning Eddie after hitting an uppercut.

Claudio Castagnoli will face Eddie Kingston at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam

The upcoming AEW Dynamite episode on September 20th is the Grand Slam show at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City. It will feature plenty of big matches with several championships on the line.

On AEW Collision in Cleveland, there was a sitdown interview conducted by Tony Schiavone with the ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli and the NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston.

They had an interview where Eddie made it clear that he didn’t like that Claudio left the independent wrestling (to go to WWE) scene years ago by working with Eddie. Claudio explained that it was a business decision. Eddie fired back saying that Claudio was his friend, Claudio met Eddie’s parents and it was disrespectful.

Eddie challenged Claudio to a match at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam, with both of their belts on the line. Claudio said would accept under one condition: Eddie has to shake Claudio’s hand if Eddie loses. After Claudio said that Eddie would never beat him, Eddie said “Deal” to end it.
