Christian Cage Makes Stunning Admission About AEW Run
Christian Cage has shared how he really feels about his current run in AEW as he nears the end of his wrestling career.
Christian Cage landed in AEW in 2021, where he soon formed a bond with Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus while he went on to challenge Kenny Omega for the TNA and AEW World Championships. However, Cage really came into his own after he turned on Jungle Boy and went on to become one of the most hated villains in the company.
Cage proved to be entertaining while being loathed as he took shots at people’s dead fathers while forming his own Patriarchy with Nick Wayne, Killswitch, Kip Sabian, and Mother Wayne. However, his iron grip on his family proved to be his downfall as The Patriarchy betrayed Cage at All In Texas, leading to the return of Cage’s long-time tag team partner, Adam Copeland.
Copeland and Cage reunited for their first tag team match in 14 years when they defeated Kip Sabian and Killswitch at Forbidden Door. They will team up again in Toronto at All Out when they clash with FTR.
Christian Cage Lauds Greatest Run Of His Career In AEW
Speaking to Yahoo Sports, Christian Cage admitted that despite being a former World Heavyweight Champion in WWE, his current run in AEW is the best of his career:
This is, without a doubt, the greatest, the best run. Did I see it happening this late? No, but it did. And like I said, when I got my career back after being gone for seven years, I wasn’t coming back to do the greatest hits tour. I was coming back to be the best. And that’s the kind of standards that I hold myself to. Anything less than that, you would not see me step foot in that ring.
As far as his reunion with Copeland goes, Cage is making no promises going past All Out:
Cope and I agreed to help each other with our issues. Part of the agreement was we’ll get through this, and there’s no promises beyond that.
