Massive Update On Chris Jericho’s Rumored Retirement In WWE
Chris Jericho is rumored to retire in 2026.
Word on the street is that Jericho is on his way to WWE after his contract with AEW expires at the end of 2025.
Even the WWE legend himself has teased a return to his old home a few times in the past months.
It was also reported that WWE has offered Chris Jericho a retirement storyline and a final tour if he chooses to return to the company. But that won’t be needed.
Turns out, the Demo God doesn’t have any intention of retiring anytime soon.
Chris Jericho Will Not Retire In 2026
Speaking on a new Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast episode, Sean Ross Sapp revealed that Chris Jericho “is not done wrestling right now.” Sapp added that WWE is interested in bringing back Jericho, irrespective of his retirement plans.
“I don’t think that would prevent WWE from bringing him back.”
Sapp noted that Y2J’s time in AEW has come to an end, but he still has a lot of things to do in WWE.
“I believe his time with AEW right now is just over and has reached — they’ve squeezed all the juice out of that one that they can. It’s not that way in WWE. I think the crowd will react the way that WWE wants them to for this tour.”
“I think it’s a better fit right now. I think it’s a better pace right now. And I think that there is more creatively for him to do — especially considering the ties to TNA and AAA, of which he has also not performed in.”
Sapp also stated that nothing certain can be said about Chris Jericho’s retirement yet, as only the star himself knows what he is planning for his future.
“I mean, it’s always possible with him that he does a retirement tour and then does an honest-to-God retirement match in AEW afterward. Like, anything’s possible with him”
