Chris Jericho Needed Help From Current WWE Producer For 2009 Match
Chris Jericho isn’t afraid to ask another wrestler for help, even if that wrestler is new in the company.
Even though Chris Jericho has been All Elite in AEW since 2019, he will forever be linked to WWE due to his long run in the company that started in 1999 and lasted for nearly 20 years.
As a future WWE Hall of Famer, Jericho will be celebrated as a guy who was elite as a heel or face and worked with many top stars in WWE history.
When looking back on his WWE career, many people might point to years like 2008 to 2011 as one of the best parts of Jericho’s run when he was known for being condescending on the microphone and very successful in the ring.
TJ Wilson is a current WWE Producer who was known as Tyson Kidd during his career as a wrestler. Kidd debuted with WWE in the late 2000s and he recently told a story on Developmentally Speaking about how Chris Jericho wanted his help in producing a match in 2009 against the Cryme Tyme tag team.
“I know he has the moniker of taking credit for inventing everything, Chris Jericho. However, in July 2009, I’d been on the main roster for five months, I knew Chris a little bit. I’d been to his house prior when I was in FCW and stuff.
I’m five months onto the main roster. He’s asking me to produce a match of his, so he invented TJ the producer [laughs].
I didn’t produce it, but it was Jericho and [The Big Show] against Cryme Tyme. He said, ‘Man, you’ve really figured Cryme Tyme out. Can you please help us?’ I was like, how many years of experience did Chris Jericho and Big Show have in 2009? How much TV/pay-per-view did they have, where pay-per-view experience, Tyson Kidd in August 2009? Zero. It just was very funny.”
At that point in time, Jericho and Big Show were both in WWE for a decade and both guys had plenty of TV time in WCW before that as well.
Chris Jericho Isn’t Bothered By Critics
In his current AEW run, Jericho is the ROH World Champion for the second time and he’s also one of the oldest wrestlers in the company at 54 years old.
As he continues to perform at a high level, Chris Jericho made it clear that the hurtful things people say about him don’t bother him at all.
“I think that people have those types of opinions, but I know what’s real and what’s not real. I really can’t worry about that. People that hate you are gonna hate you, no matter what you do. They’re not even watching what I’m doing. They’re just like, ‘Ah, we hate this guy.’ I can’t worry about that. All I worry about is the fan base that I have, which is massive, and bringing in new fans.
People that hate you, there’s nothing you can do, whatever. That to me is the biggest thing, I just don’t worry about it. That is probably the best advice I could give to anybody in wrestling or show business or anything where you’re gonna put yourself out there. Be prepared to have everybody bury you with their opinions. But don’t listen to that.
People that have that attitude would never try things on their own, and probably failed in their lives, so they want to try and take it out on you. So I don’t ever give much merit to that. If I felt that way, then I would do something about it. But if I feel opposite, I know what I feel, I know what’s good and what’s bad, way more than any fan does.
It’s an opinion, but I know, I’ve been doing this for 34 years all over the world. I know what I’m doing, I know if it’s good and I know if it’s bad. So I don’t need anybody to tell me that. I never did.”
