Chris Jericho Names Two Wrestling Legends He Wanted To Wrestle
There are two legendary wrestlers who Chris Jericho thinks about as men he never got to compete against.
As a veteran of pro wrestling for over 30 years who is still going strong in his 50s, Chris Jericho has been in the ring with many of the all-time greats.
Some of the best matches and moments from Jericho’s career feature some of the biggest names ever like The Rock, Steve Austin, Triple H, Jon Moxley, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Batista, John Cena, Kurt Angle, Edge/Adam Copeland, Kenny Omega, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Rey Mysterio and so many others.
When it comes to wrestlers he never got to wrestle that he wishes he could, two-time WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart and the late, great Owen Hart come to mind. Jericho spoke about them and The Undertaker with The Daily Star.
“I never got to work with Owen Hart or Bret Hart. I only worked briefly with The Undertaker. We never had that big pay-per-view match or angle, but the matches we did do were so good. We had one match on ‘SmackDown’ where afterwards we were like ‘where have you been all my life.’”
“Same thing with Bryan Danielson, we finally had a great, great, great match in AEW after I think we worked once in WWE.“
Chris Jericho has spoken many times in the past about how Owen Hart was one of his favorite wrestlers growing up, but sadly it never happened. Owen passed away as a WWE superstar in a tragic accident in May 1999. Jericho was working for WCW at the time and would sign with WWE in August 1999.
Bret Hart was on the WCW roster for a few years when Jericho was still there, but the two men never crossed paths in the ring.
Chris Jericho: “I Don’t Want A Retirement Tour”
At AEW All In London, Chris Jericho lost the FTW Championship cleanly to Hook, who made Jericho tap out to the Redrum submission move.
During a recent interview talking about his career, the 53-year-old Jericho made it clear means he doesn’t want a retirement match or tour like John Cena will be doing in 2025.
“When that time comes, I don’t want a retirement tour I think. I don’t need a big retirement match. I’ll just stop. Maybe I’ll feel differently when it comes to that, but I also have other things.”
“I have Fozzy where I get the live element form as well. I have the podcast, cruise, acting. I have other stuff going on and have walked away from wrestling a couple of times. We’ll see what happens.”
“Everyone is different. For me, I just live in the moment and enjoy going to work every week and doing cool s**t. As long as I feel that way, I will continue doing so.”
While recapping his WWE debut 25 years after it happened, Chris Jericho revealed that Steve Austin wasn’t interested in working with him at least at the beginning of Jericho’s run in the company.
