AEW’s Chris Jericho Stuns Fans At GCW Event

Chris Jericho AEW

Chris Jericho made a shock appearance at GCW Highest In The Room 3.

The legendary star made his impact felt during a bout between his upcoming opponent Matt Cardona and independent star Effy. A disguised Jericho savagely attacked Cardona in the ring with a baseball bat allowing Effy to score a victory over the former WWE Intercontinental Champion.

The joy was short lived for Effy, however, with the veteran Canadian soon inflicting similar damage upon the victorious 34 year-old before leaving the arena to the angry boos of a hostile crowd in Los Angeles.

Jericho lifted the ROH World Championship for a second time after defeating Mark Briscoe on the 23rd October edition of AEW Dynamite and is set to defend the gold against Cardona at ROH Final Battle on 20th December. The event will emanate from New York’s famed Hammerstein Ballroom.

Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder in WWE, is perhaps somewhat of a surprise contender for Jericho’s gold given that he is not under contract with AEW or ROH. The 39 year-old has earned industry-wide praise, however, after revitalizing his career on the independent scene following his release by WWE in April 2020.

Chris Jericho Overruled Tony Khan On Ex-AEW Star

With a legendary career stretching almost 35 years to his name, Chris Jericho was understandably a key figure when Tony Khan launched AEW back in 2019.

Jericho is well known for his outspoken nature and even overruled the AEW President on the signing of former star Jake Hager.

Hager, previously known as Jack Swagger in WWE, was not initially wanted by Khan for the fledgling promotion but ultimately earned a deal at Jericho’s insistence.
