Chris Jericho Remains Unbothered By Criticism
Chris Jericho remains adamant that he knows what he’s doing.
During his 34-year career, Chris Jericho has seen just about everything the world of wrestling has to offer.
When he signed with AEW in 2019, the deal was seen as something of a coup, and his crowning as the company’s first-ever World Champion played a crucial role in establishing the promotion. However, that doesn’t mean things have been totally plain sailing.
After getting increasingly mixed reactions from crowds in early 2024, Jericho leaned into the criticism by creating The Learning Tree. The faction is made up of the former WWE star, Brian Keith and Big Bill with Jericho sarcastically referring to those under his guidance as being in the “Jericho Vortex.”
Chris Jericho Continues To Back Himself
During a new interview with Gabby LaSpisa on Gabby AF, Jericho broke down how he deals with criticism from fans. The veteran while people will always find a reason to hate you, he knows what’s good and what isn’t so he tries to stay true to his own judgment.
“I think that people have those types of opinions, but I know what’s real and what’s not real. I really can’t worry about that. People that hate you are gonna hate you, no matter what you do. They’re not even watching what I’m doing. They’re just like, ‘Ah, we hate this guy.’ I can’t worry about that. All I worry about is the fan base that I have, which is massive, and bringing in new fans.
People that hate you, there’s nothing you can do, whatever. That to me is the biggest thing, I just don’t worry about it. That is probably the best advice I could give to anybody in wrestling or show business or anything where you’re gonna put yourself out there. Be prepared to have everybody bury you with their opinions. But don’t listen to that.
People that have that attitude would never try things on their own, and probably failed in their lives, so they want to try and take it out on you. So I don’t ever give much merit to that. If I felt that way, then I would do something about it. But if I feel opposite, I know what I feel, I know what’s good and what’s bad, way more than any fan does.
It’s an opinion, but I know, I’ve been doing this for 34 years all over the world. I know what I’m doing, I know if it’s good and I know if it’s bad. So I don’t need anybody to tell me that. I never did,”
Chris Jericho was most recently in action at Ring of Honor Final Battle where he retained the ROH World Title with a win over Matt Cardona. After the match Jericho and The Learning Tree continued the attack on Cardona, only to be interrupted by the returning Bandido.
The star had been out of action since June 2023, but within seconds of making his return, he suffered another setback. During the segment, Bandido hit Jericho with a dropkick from the top rope, but he hit his head on the canvas on landing. Following much speculation, Bandido confirmed he suffered a concussion during the incident.
