Chris Jericho Makes Big Promise As He Celebrates Anniversary

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho is looking to the future.

Throughout August, there was increased speculation that Chris Jericho could return to WWE when his AEW contract runs out. The first-ever AEW World Champion is expected to become a free agent in December 2025.

At least in theory, this would set up a surprise return at the 2026 Royal Rumble on January 31 in Saudi Arabia.

Although still under contract with AEW, it’s believed that the first-ever AEW World Champion has already reached out to WWE to gauge interest in a potential move. From the WWE side, it’s been reported that many within the company would welcome him back with open arms.

Chris Jericho Vows To Keep Wrestling

In a new post on social media, Jericho celebrated the 35th anniversary of his in-ring debut against Lance Storm in Alberta, Canada. As speculation continues to run wild on his future, the veteran promised not to retire.

“Crazy to think it’s been 35 years to the day of my VERY FIRST MATCH! On Oct 2, 1990 I faced @stormwrestlingacademy in Ponoka, Alberta at the #PonokaMooseHall, in front of about 85 people.

The match ended in a ten-minute draw and I remember every little thing as if it happened only yesterday! (I got paid 30 dollars….a 20 & a 10!). I have had a wonderful, amazing, one-in-a-million career since then…. and I wanna thank all of YOU from around the entire world for joining me for certain parts …or even all of it! And the Good news is….IT AIN’T OVER YET!”

Jericho hasn’t been seen on AEW television since walking out on The Learning Tree on the April 7 edition of Dynamite. Despite that, Tony Khan said in September that he would love to have former World Champion Chris Jericho back in AEW, “hopefully soon.”
