Chris Jericho Earns Massive Praise From AEW’s Tony Khan
Tony Khan thinks very highly of Chris Jericho.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Jericho’s AEW contract was set to expire on December 31, 2025. But he is still listed on the AEW official roster page.
The Demo God is rumored to make his WWE return, but no one knows when.
What Did Tony Khan Say About Chris Jericho’s AEW Status?
Amid these rumors, Tony Khan appeared for an interview with Adrian Hernandez on January 7, 2026, where he was asked to comment on Jericho’s current status in AEW.
Hernandez asked, “I checked the AEW website before this interview started, and I see that Chris Jericho is still listed on the roster. Is there any insight you can share about his current status with AEW?”
Khan didn’t provide a direct and clear answer. But instead praised the veteran for all he has done for the Jacksonville-based company.
Khan replied, “Well, first of all, I’m really grateful whenever I talk about people who have been here from the very beginning and think about that first show in Las Vegas. None of this would be possible without Chris Jericho, who’s been instrumental in AEW from the start.
I love Chris very much, and I would say that Chris is always a big part of AEW. This promotion is here to stay, and Chris Jericho is a huge part of our history. We’re really proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish, and Chris is an instrumental part of that.”
RAW General Manager Adam Pearce recently shared a Jericho-tease ahead of the Stranger Things-themed RAW on January 5. But Jericho didn’t make an appearance on the show.
According to PWInsider, Jericho wasn’t scheduled to be on RAW on Jan 5. In fact, he was in Los Angeles during the Monday night show. The “break down the walls” comment was just a reference to Netflix’s popular series Stranger Things.
