Chris Jericho Overruled Tony Khan On Ex-AEW Star

Chris Jericho

It seems Chris Jericho got his way with one ex-AEW star as they claim Tony Khan never wanted them in the company.

When AEW was formed in 2019, Chris Jericho was the top star in the company and became the inaugural AEW World Champion when he defeated Hangman Adam Page for the gold at the very first All Out.

Jericho made more waves on the first episode of Dynamite just two months after his title win as he stood tall with his newly formed Inner Circle comprised of Santana, Ortiz, Sammy Guevara and the debuting Jake Hager.

During Hager’s time in AEW, he was closely linked with Chris Jericho before the former Jack Swagger left the company at the end of his contract in early 2024. But it seems he believes that if Tony Khan had his way, he’d never have been All Elite.

Chris Jericho Wanted Jake Hager In AEW

Speaking on Going Ringside, Jake Hager revealed that he believes Tony Khan never wanted him in his company and that it was Chris Jericho who made sure he was signed:

It was awesome. Chris Jericho is the greatest of all time, one of my favorites. For him to bring me in and say I’m his guy, what a compliment.

Tony [Khan] didn’t want me there, but Chris did, he wanted me there, and it was awesome. Working with the Inner Circle was one of my favorite things. Working with the Jericho Appreciation Society, one of my favorite things. One of my favorite moments of my career was the Stadium Stampedes that we did. Just good times.

It seems unlikely Hager will return to AEW as Jake Hager launched a bizarre tirade at Tony Khan where he accused the AEW boss of being a communist.
