Chris Jericho Surprisingly Tipped For Non-Wrestling Role In WWE
Chris Jericho is rumored to return to WWE soon.
Jericho last appeared in AEW in April 2025. Plus, his contract with Tony Khan’s promotion is set to expire next year in 2026. Word on the street is that Jericho will return to WWE once his contract with AEW expires.
While fans and critics expect Jericho to return to his old home, nobody is sure what role he’ll play in the company after he makes his much-anticipated comeback.
On the latest edition of the Behind The Turnbuckle podcast, WWE veteran Vince Russo was asked if he sees Chris Jericho coming back to WWE as a full-time wrestler.
Vince Russo Calls For Chris Jericho To Become An Authority Figure After WWE Return
Russo replied that if it were for him, he’d bring back Jericho as an authority figure and give him the responsibility to manage both RAW and SmackDown. He suggested that this approach would prove to be highly beneficial for the company.
“Coach, if it were up to me, because Jericho is such a smart individual, he’s been around the block. He’s seen it all. What I would do is, Chris, you are going to come in an authority role over both brands.
You are going to be on both of the shows. And not only that, Chris, I’m going to involve you in the creative. I’m going to ask you, if this were a shoot, what would Chris Jericho be booking? That is what I would do. And I think instantly that would add to higher numbers for the WWE.” (From 36:56)
It was reported that people in WWE are positive that Chris Jericho will return to WWE after his AEW contract expires. But when Jericho was asked to comment on his future, he gave a vague answer.
“Wow. Well, I’m just going to give it my all and give it 100%. Just see what happens, brother,” Jericho told Bubba Ray on his Talk Is Jericho podcast. [H/T: Ringside News]
