Chris Jericho Sees No Reason To Work Anywhere But AEW

Chris Jericho wants to stay with AEW.

Although he’s been with AEW since the company launched in 2019 and was the company’s first-ever World Champion, for many Chris Jericho remains synonymous with WWE.

Across multiple spells with the company, Jericho became one of the biggest stars in the industry and a multi-time World Champion. As is the case with many former WWE stars, there remains a presumption that they’ll always return to the company before they retire, and Jericho is no different.

However, it seems the man himself has no interest in the move. At least not yet.

Chris Jericho Loving Life In AEW

During a new interview with ComicBook, Jericho was asked about potentially heading back to WWE. The veteran explained that while he could go back, he sees no reason to leave AEW because he’s still enjoying working for Tony Khan.

“I enjoyed working there in the past and I can probably work there in the future as well. We’ll see. To me, business is business but I enjoy working with AEW, I enjoy all that we’ve accomplished since day one, especially now with the new TV deal. We did what we set out to do which was to change the course of wrestling history — Tony and I and all of us have done that.

It’s a pretty cool fu*k you to anyone that didn’t think we could do it. Now seeing this television deal and the amount of money we got for it, we’re on our way man and we’re not going anywhere.

There’s really no reason for me to go anywhere else right now, I enjoy working for the Khan family and I enjoy working for AEW. I’m happy.”

Speaking elsewhere, Chris Jericho discussed his upcoming match with Mark Briscoe while dismissing talk of retirement. Jericho said that he’s trying to elevate Briscoe as much as he can, and he’ll only consider stepping away from the ring when he’s no longer able to do that.

WrestleDream will come live from the Tacoma Dome in Washington on October 12th. The card is set to be topped by the AEW World Title clash between Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley.
