Chris Jericho Pitched For Major New WWE On-Screen Role
Chris Jericho is rumored to return to WWE in 2026.
As per the reports, Jericho’s AEW contract is set to expire by the end of 2025. He will then part with Tony Khan’s wrestling promotion and return to his old home, probably at the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia or WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
Speaking on the new episode of Coach and Bro Show, former WWE head writer Vince Russo suggested that if WWE welcomes back Jericho next year, then they should bring him as the “showrunner” of WWE and put him in charge of both Raw and SmackDown.
Vince Russo said, “If you’re gonna bring Chris Jericho over for anything, that’s what it should be. I would put him on both shows as the “SHOWRUNNER” and let Jericho just be Jericho. Those shows would improve by leaps and bounds overnight. Overnight.”
Co-host Jonathan Coachman added, “Because he knows how to do it. Yes, he knows how to be an a**hole heel. But also a baby face.” (From 1:22:28)
“I don’t think that would prevent WWE from bringing him back.”
Chris Jericho Will Not Retire Next Year
It was recently reported that WWE has offered Chris Jericho a retirement tour if he decides to return to the company. But Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful clarified that the WWE legend is not ready to hang up his wrestling boots yet.
But that doesn’t mean WWE is not interested in him. They want him back, irrespective of retirement plans. Sapp added that it’s possible that Jericho could choose to retire after returning to WWE, but for now, he is “not done with wrestling.”
“I don’t think that would prevent WWE from bringing him back.”
“I mean, it’s always possible with him that he does a retirement tour and then does an honest-to-God retirement match in AEW afterward. Like, anything’s possible with him”
