Chris Jericho has shared how he came up with the name “Floyd” that he carries around AEW and sometimes uses as a weapon.

During his AEW career, Chris Jericho has accomplished a lot as the company’s first ever AEW World Champion. Jericho has feuded with some of the biggest names in all of AEW including Jon Moxley, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Orange Cassidy, Ricky Starks, Bryan Danielson and numerous others.

In addition to his sucess in AEW that also included a reign as the Ring of Honor World Champion, Jericho has also led two successful stables in the company.

On the first episode of AEW Dynamite in October 2019, Jericho formed a group called The Inner Circle. After a few years, that group disbanded and Jericho ended up forming a stable called the Jaricho Appreciation Society, which clearly appreciates him.

Chris Jericho has also carried around a bat with him that he calls Floyd. That bat has helped Jericho win plenty of matches in his AEW career and remains by his side everywhere he goes.

While speaking to NHL.com (National Hockey League), Chris Jericho revealed that he named the bat after former St. Louis Blues hockey player Floyd Thompson.

“True story. How do you swallow your own tongue?! But he did it, and to this day in AEW, the bat I carry is called Floyd. I was looking for a name (similiar to) Lucille – Negan’s bat on The Walking Dead – and for some reason Floyd Thomson popped in my head.”

“So the name on my bat in AEW comes from Floyd Thomson, former St. Louis Blue, who swallowed his own tongue.”

During the March 29th episode of AEW Dynamite, Jericho had a long distance stare towards Adam Cole, who defeated Daniel Garcia in the main event of the show. It appears as though Jericho will be feuding with Cole soon.
