Chris Jericho Discusses What His Wrestling Future Looks Like

A master of reinvention, Chris Jericho has opened up on what he personally enjoys with his current role in AEW.

Having signed a new contract with All Elite Wrestling which takes him through until at least 2025, former World Champion not only performs inside the squared circle but is a prominent figure backstage in the company. Bringing his wisdom and experience to the younger talent, ‘The Ocho’ no doubt has plenty to offer as AEW’s weekly programming is put together.

In a new discussion with The Daily Star, Chris Jericho has opened up on what the future may hold for him in the wrestling business. Whilst admitting he enjoys the work he does backstage, he also acknowledges that he’d likely miss performing if he stepped away from the ring.

I don’t know what the future of me and wrestling is. I could quit tomorrow, or I could quit in six years, I don’t know. I’ll worry about that when it happens. Right now, I do enjoy the backstage role of helping guys and girls out with their interviews and promos. There’s a lot of stuff I do backstage at AEW. When we have Dynamite, I get there at 1 and leave at 11 or 12 – it’s non-stop, all the time. That’s fun for me, but to exclusively do just that? I don’t know. I still like being part of the show.

In the interview, Chris Jericho also confirms that he has no interest in a return to WWE, despite the key role the company has had in his career.

Chris Jericho is currently embroiled in a battle with ‘Absolute’ Ricky Starks, which will see the pair finally face off at Revolution 2023, with the added stipulation that The Jericho Appreciation Society are banned from ringside.
